Chapter - 31: The End. (Abrupt and Unsatisfactory)
Hi guys! It’s been a while… Sorry about that.
In all honesty, I have (and have had) a LOT going on in my personal life and in mid-march I kind of came to the realization that I wasn’t stable enough for the platform I had and that the attention wasn’t good for me. (Clinical Narcissist, Sorry) So I left without a word, which may have not been the nicest way to go, but again; I’m kind of unwell. Sorry!
These past months have been insane for me in ways I won’t divulge because, well, it’s really not that important and I know none of you came here looking for a journal entry, but I hope no one’s TOO mad about the disappearance of 47 whole bats. Personally I feel like I’m like eleven bats now. Most of them died or ran away. Sorry.
Anyways, while I never had intentions to fully abandon this work, in light of recent news I’m just not comfortable continuing it. This piece is a highly critical self indulgent mess that always sort of harped on every character and I’m just no longer comfortable writing c!Techno. With the utmost respect in mind, I’m choosing to let this story end here, and I hope you can all understand that just for me personally this is what feels best.
I never expected this amount of love and support and I never intended to get so many people fixated and then leave them on a cliffhanger. I appreciate you all so much for the insane love I received for this work. For almost a year straight thousands of you stayed here and followed along and supported it chapter after chapter no matter how long it took in between updates.
I know I’m getting sentimental over a minecraft roleplay fanfiction which is a little bit (or a lot bit) laughable but I truly do want to thank anyone who ever commented and gave kudos. Originally I was probably going to abandon this fic after about two chapters but the massive amount of people who adored it and wanted to see more motivated me to keep going. I made so many lifelong friends and connections through this fic so in all honesty I owe it a lot.
I know it’s not much, but for some closure, I wanted to disclose how I planned to end this story.
What follows will be miscellaneous excerpts, dialogue and notes about how the final chapters were supposed to go.
To avoid Tommy watching his own death on screen, Drista allowed Sam to take him into another room that she created for them. In that room, the two of them had a tearful reconciliation. I only had this bit stashed away in my notes.
Tommy: I never had someone who would do anything for me. Not Phil, not Techno, not Wilbur, not Tubbo. And I guess I just thought that for once I had. I thought you would save me. I thought you cared about me.
Sam: Tommy I- I do care about you.
Tommy: You let me die, Sam! You chose the prison over me!
Sam: I’m sorry, Tommy. I-
Tommy: I don’t want a fucking sorry! I want someone who loves me enough to give up what they care about most! Because that’s what I’ve done for everyone all my life, okay!? Wilbur was worth the discs to me but I wasn’t worth L’Manberg to him!
Tommy: …
Sam: …
Tommy: … And I just… I guess I thought I might’ve been worth the prison to you. I thought you could be what I’d pretended Phil and Wilbur were.
As they all left the room and were sent back to the SMP, Drista was going to hold Tommy behind, so she could talk to him. They were going to have a moment where Drista actually opened herself. The quote that followed was,
“Even in your next life, I’ll find you and I’ll be your friend. You won’t ever be alone again.”
After leaving, they would all have been dropped unceremoniously right onto the upper lip of the L’Manberg crater. Where Tommy would stand just at the edge as he waited for everyone to leave. Instead, Ranboo would place a hand on his shoulder, and he’d turn around, seeing that not a single person had gone.
“We’re still here, Tommy,” Ranboo smiled softly, “we aren’t going anywhere.”
Following that, The Greater SMP, including Pandora’s vault, would be abandoned, and the prisoner within the main cell would be forgotten and left to slowly die.
As a whole, they’d grow closer and more connected like they used to be. And afterwards was an epilogue, months later, where Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo were travelling through the Nether to visit Puffy, as they had plans to bake with her and Niki.
Tommy would, however, pause as he crossed the lava, staring down and feeling a familiar pit in his stomach. This scene was written in my notes months ago and goes as follows.
“You coming, big man?”
Tommy looked up, seeing Tubbo with a soft smile on his face and an outstretched hand. He looked down once again at the lava beneath him.
He could so easily do it.
But then he looked to Tubbo again, and Ranboo a little further up ahead; and thought of baking with Puffy and Niki.
Maybe tomorrow he’d come back, contemplate it all again, but today, he was looking forward to the visit he’d planned; so at the very least, he’d wait until the next day.
“Yeah,” he grinned, reaching out and taking Tubbo’s hand, “I’m coming.”
And maybe taking it day by day was enough.
And that’s all I have. Thank you all for reading, and I’m sorry I can’t offer you a proper ending. You guys are the best.
Take care.
